Leading Research for Better Quality of Life

Life Sciences is the study of life in all its forms. The range of disciplines covered is accordingly wide and the potential for market-orientated application is high. Life Sciences comprise the areas biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, nutrition, food technology, agriculture and medical technology.

CTI Life Sciences sponsors projects in applied research and development (aR&D). The focus is directed towards the research areas of medical technology and biotechnology. Of increasing importance however are the areas of food technology, environmental protection and plant cultivation. The projects sponsored aim to establish Switzerland a business and research location that is favourable to investment and to increase the country’s competitiveness.

Every year a team of experts examines well over 100 grant applications for projects in aR&D between centres of higher education and companies. Grants are awarded to projects with the highest knowledge generation and wealth creation.
